Reflection on Writing IV

Reflections on Writing IV

In Writing IV class, I learned a lot of things and practice writing. I think that I developed a lot of writing skills by posting blogs. I will tell you about my practicing.

First, I will tell you about Book Reviews. Book Review is that I read books which were written in English, I wrote reviews about them, and I posted them on the blog. It is very hard for me to read English book. Although it is hard, I read a lot of books and I posted a lot.

About Essays, I had to write and post a lot of essays as homework. These kinds is movie review essay, my experience, and group essay. It was hard for me to write these sentences. Sometimes, I had to write and post presentations. It was fun for me to make presentations because I like to make design myself.

There are a lot of comments of my friends and assistants on my blog. I like to read these comments. Sometimes, I re-commented blogs my friends posted. I like to read sentences of my friends and post some comments. I am looking forwards to your comments!

My bad point is that I could not posted blogs on period. Especially, about Book Review and Typing homework, I could not posted blogs regularly. I should post them regularly, so I reflected about my unregulated posting.

However, I think that it is important for me to write speedy. In first semester, when I started posting, it was hard for me to write and typ over one hundred words. Thanks to speed typing homework, I can typ sentences faster than before. Now, it is easy for me to typ sentences which is over two hundred words. I was surprised that my skiils was growing up. It is amazing!

As a result, my skills became better than before by Writing class. In Writing IV class, it is harder than Writing class of 1st semester. We had to write more Book Reviews, longer typing homework, and a lot of essays. They were so hard for me, but it is for me to do a lot of homework. Thanks to them, my writing skills was growing up. I feel that it is great experiences!

Typing home work 14 (my favorite singers)

I like J pop singers. First, I like Kaela Kimura. Under her real name is Kaela Rie Kimura. Her father is English man and mother is Japanese, so she is a person of mixed parentage, half is Japanese and half English. I love Kaela Kimura. When I was junior high school, my friends liked to listen to Kaela K. It is opportunity that I listening to her music. It became my favorite. Kaela is her middle name. She is very cute and characteristic artist. She was faction model in teenager. When she was faction model, she waned to be singer. After that, she made her debut in 23 June, 2004. Her dream comes true! Another my favorite singer is Ikimono-gakari. Ikimono-gakari is the group name, and consists 3 people, they are a cute lady and 2 men. The two men are the guitar players and the lady is vocal. Her name is Kiyoe Yoshioka, and has wonderful voice like clear. Songs she sing are made the 2 men. Their name is Yoshiki Mizuno and Hotaka Yamashita. Their songs are good! The songs were made by guitar players.

Introduce my host family.

I had been Minnesota in America for a homestay program. My host family is The Haiders. They are very kind of me. The Haiders consists father, mother, a  daughter, and a son. Her name is Emily and she is 13 years old. His name is Luke and he is 11 years old. They are very cute. They have a pet, his name is Champ. He is half Bichon and half King Charles Cavalier ... he is very sweet!

Luke is 11 years old. He likes baseball. He is so small, but he is good at sport and very smart. At school, his school records are all A grade (A is the best records). I respect him, but he hate visitable very much.

Emily is 13 years old. She is so cute girl. She is soccer player and runs very very fast. She runs faster the me. She likes fashion, make up, and Justin! I often went shopping with her.

Champ is the dog. When I went back home, he barked with wagging his tail, licked and got closer me. He is so cute and good dog.

Jeff and Christy were so kind for me. They took me many sight and talked me a lot. I could not speak English very well, I tried to speak English. It is good opportunity.

In MN, I went to Bethel university. It took me 30 minutes to go to school by car. In the van, I enjoyed talking my friends every time. In Bethel, I had classes. They were ELT, lecturers and so on. In the afternoon, we went to somewhere, played sport, saw a lot of sight, eat pizza and played games. It was so fun and good experience for me. I talk teachers a lot, became friend on Facebook, and took many many pictures. It became good memories. I enjoyed having time in Bethel!

In the weekends, I did a lot of things and went to a lot of place. For example, I went to the Lake Superior. It is huge lake like sea and one of the 5 big lakes. It took us 3 hours to go to there by van. I was surprised that it is huge. I gave french flies to sieges. They ate it. It is so fun! Another place, I went to Mall of America. It is so dig shopping mall. There are a lot of shops in the mall. I bought a lot of clothes, shoes and so on. I like Mall of America! It is one of my favorites.

It took me for 11 hours to go to America from Narita airport by plane. I felt that it is so long time. I slept, played game, or talked with my friends. I was looking forward to seeing my host family, staying in America, going shopping, cutting my hair and studying English in the University. Thanks to my host family, I could do all things I wanted to. We spent happy time in the U.S. I wanted to go again sometime.

20th celebration

in my high school
In the early morning, I got up at 2am, and  I went to downtown with my mother to wear Kimono, make up and have my hair style set for Coming of Age. I changed into Kimono. Kimono is beautiful, but I suffered wearing Kimono. My Kimono is red and it is rental. The rental fee is cheap.

7 January, after club activity, I went to down town for an alumni association and see my friends of my high school. It was so dear for me to see my friends. I talked them a lot. I wanted to go back high school. I like my high school! I went home at 4 am with my friends by taxi. It costed us 4000 yen to go back home. I would like to see my friends sometime.

9 January, it was the day of celebration of Coming of Age. I went to the city hall with my friend Ayumi for taking part in a coming of age celebration. There are many people in the city hall. After that, I want to my high school and took pictures. I took a lot of pictures with my friends and teachers, and talked teachers and friends a lot. I enjoyed spending great time with them in my high school.

After that, I went back home by my mothers car, and I went to Chinese restaurant with my family. I ate Chinese meals. I do not often eat Chinese meals because my mother does not like Chinese food. It was so delicious and had a good time with my family. My family felt great the meal. I was happy to come of age.

I want to get a job, and work in the office. These are my dream. I would like to marry sometime. I need to get boyfriend to realize my dream. I hope I will be happier.

Compare Japanese Life with American Life

 I feel that there are a lot of difference in America. It is first time for me to visit the U.S.

First; big foods and different taste. In Japan, I often eat Japanese food. For example, McDonald's drinks are different size. American drink size is bigger than Japanese drink size. ad salad, I always eat salad with Japanese or sesami dressing. However, in the U.S., there are no these dressing, so sometimes I would like to eat Japanese food while I eat the lunch in Bethel.

Second; traffic rules. In the U.S., many cars have left handle and drivers drive left side road. In Japan, many cars have right handle and drivers have to drive right side. Morever, in the U.S., if the traffic lights turns rea, and drivers can turn right. If I do in Japan, I would be caught by the police.

Third; Education. In the U.S., people have four choise;. these choises are public school, private school, home schooling, or chater school. In Japan, we have only two choises, public school or private school. There is no private elementary school in Kumamoto, so I was surprised that my host sibling go to private school.

I am interested in all differences. I went to many seeing sights and go shopping. I love shoping. My host family take me many place and teach a lot of things. Though I cannot speak English very well, I talked to them a lot. Thanks to my host family, I can know many American culture.

BR 2-18: Three Naughty Ostriches

"Stop! You are all going too fast!" (P.10, Brown, 2004).

The reason why I choose the book is that I do not know naughty ostriches, so I read it because I would like to know the naughty ostriches in detail. It is rare for me to see a ostrich. I have only seen them in the zoo sometimes.

The story is that escaping three ostriches. They got out of the farm and went down the hill. It looks so funny. Then, a girl was going to chase them on her skates. And a boy on his bike was going to chase, Farmer was going to chase on his track. The all went on down the hill as fast as they could. That looks so fun! Finally, the police caught them and went back the farm.

The interesting point is running away. They wanted some fun. I wanted some fun, too. However, it is unusual to do something fun.

BR 2-17: Robin Hood

"Because I rhink Robin Hood is a good man, and I tell everyone. The Sheriff does not like that." (P.10, Escott, 1985).

The reason why I choose is that I know Robin Hood. As you know, I watched the movie in the class. It is interesting for me to read and watch. I would like to tell you about the interesting of Robin Hood. At least, you should read or watch the movie once.

Robin Hood is the brave man because he helped the people many times. However, Prince John hates him because he steal Prince's money. Prince John got heavy taxies. The people is very poor and annoyed the Prince. The story is that Robin helped people and married Marian. Finally, he made everyone happy.

The interesting point is Prince John is fault. It is so funny. I think the brave only win in the world.

BR 2-16: Survive!

"After two hours you hear the helicopter again." (P.13, Brooke, 2002).

The reason why I choose the book is that I would like to know what survive is. There are a lot of survivals or dangerous in the world. I have never survived.

The main character is me. It means the main character is reader. Reader can choose which the best choice is. Reader's name is Chris and reader is on the small plane going to across the Rocky Mountains. The plane was broken and began to go down into one of the mountains. The reader got a loss in the mountain and have to be helped someone. The reader should choose which the best way is. Can you survive on the situation?

The interesting point is that I can choose, and it changed the story. If the situation had been true, I would die yet. The mistaken choice means dead.

BR 2-15: Six in a Bed

 "Biff, Mum, Kipper, Dad, Chip and Floppy." (P.6, Hunt, 2003).

The reason why I choose is, I think, there are 6 people on one bed. When I was children, there are 5 people in two bed. It is one of my dear memorizes in my childhood. However, it is so small for us to sleep. Why they sleep in a bed?

Mum and Dad often sleep in the bed. First, Kipper go to the bed because he want to ask them reading a book. Kipper is on the bed. There 3 people on the bed. Next, whn Chip and Biff look at them, they looks exciting, so they go to the bed together. There are 5 people on the bed. Finally, Floppy go on the bed. There are 5 people and a dog on the bed! Wow!

The interesting point is Floppy go on the bed. I think Floppy wanted to be with family.

BR 2-14: The Band

"What a bad dog!" (P.14, Hunt, 2003).

I would like to know who is the band, what is a musical instrument, and why did she or he play a band. That is why I read the book. I like a band and musical instrument. When I was small, I had played piano until 1st grade of high school, so I am interested in music.

The story is that dad played trumpet in the house, but Floppy barked at him while his playing. He change the place to play again and again, but floppy barked at Dad. Dad is the police. It is the police's band. He played it in the park, Floppy barked again. I became angry.

The interesting point is annoying. Floppy always barked at him when he played it. He could not practice it, so he annoyed Floppy. However, he could not stop his barking at him.

Movie

The ending of the story is that Romeo and Juliet choose the death because they marry. Therefore, they could marry unless choise the death, in other words, I will deal with how to marry them mainly on a solution except death from a point of view whether there was not without their dying.

At first, it was necessary for a monk to tell suspended animation of Juliet to Romeo exactly. It is a matter of course. The ending is: Romeo hurries to hear death of Juliet from his messenger to the graveyard where Juliet was buried. Then, Juliet was in suspended animation, but Romeo who did not know it committed suicide at the side of Juliet .  It was a monk that thought about this strategy.  If the monk told this strategy to Romeo exactly, they should have passed away. I think that the monk was able to tell the decision of Juliet taking medicine and becoming in suspended animation to Romeo immediately . I guess that it was as for 42 hours or more, from Juliet decided to take medicine to she woke. I wonder if the monk told Romeo about the strategy.

Next, I thinks that Juliet should handle a nurse and  it was necessary for the nurse to tell Romeo the strategy exactly. I guess that the nurse would stand by Juliet, as a result. The nurse would accomplish it by all means.
 The death can say that it was a big mistake to have trusted a monk perfectly. It was dangerous the nurse talk to others. However, they could look for the solution. For example, she let a nurse tell Romeo that she wake 42 hours later. She was a secret and do the elopement and escape in the distance. She handed a letter to Romeo to employ a nurse and prevent a nurse from being able to see contents. There is not the security that this strategy completely succeeds, but I think that it was necessary to tell this strategy to Romeo precisely.

Finally, there is the method that Romeo and Juliet evade. It is the fact that they understood each other's parents not allowing for Juliet to marry Romeo at the beginning. I ran in two people not, the thing which were going to have you recognize it from the beginning and should have failed. Even if the one did not die, and person himself had a hard time, there should have been able to be it much together.

It may be said that there were a lot of methods becoming same as avoiding death in conclusion. It was necessary for mutual understanding of Romeo and Juliet to be done properly, but after all there was a problem of each other's houses or distance and was particular. Destined mischief led Romeo and Juliet to the choice called the death.

BR 2-13: Hair

"He has no hair!" (P.14, Ashley, 2004).

I think that hair is important. The hair express own character. If your hair style were changed, you would change your feeling. I would like to change my hair style now. I have a long hair for cerebration of 20 years old.

The book is written about hair. There are a lot of hair style in the world. For example, its color is different. Some people have black hair, and the others have bronze, white, brown, and so on. Then, some people have straight hair, and the others have curly hair. The length is different. They are short, medium, and long. It is written about the interesting points for hair.

Yes, it have something special meaning.
I think, there are no heroes in WWII.

I think,
he thought that everyone is not justice and is just selfish.


3) What does Harry mean when he says,"the dead are happier dead."

Harbin, who was victim of the accident, should die.


4) What does Harry imply in his "cuckoo clock" speech (on page 156-157in the handout)? 
Why do you think this is one of the most memorablespeeches in film history?

Cuckoo clock was a symbol of peace.The speeches showed his thinking.

BR 2-12: What Was It Like?

Oxford Reading Tree: Stage 8: More Storybooks (Magic Key): What Was It Like?
"My goodness! I don't believe it!" (P.2, Hunt, 2003).

First of all, I could not understand the meaning of "What Was It Like?", so I would like to know the meaning of the title, and I decided to read it.

The story of the book is about the World War II. Children took part in a play about the history. Children were excited to play a role. Then, Gran, who experience in the World War II, she said, "I don't believe it!" Children did not know a terrible of the World War. After rehoarsal, the Children went back home. Then, the magic key began to glow and took the children off another adventure. It took then back to a street in the London.

The interesting point is the difference from Gran to the children. Gran know the terrible of the war very well, but the children did not know. If they played a role about the war, they studied about it.

Kumamoto to Minnesota

This is the first time that I visit the U.S. If I compare the culture of the U.S. with Japan, I can find a lot of different things. I would like to tell you about the different things.

I think that the most important thing is foods and drinks. As you know, American foods and drinks are bigger than Japanese foods and drinks. I was surprised that large size drink at McDonalds are so big. Morever, about salad, I think it is a little different. In Japan, I often eat salad with Japanese dressing or sesami dressing. American dressing is different and I do not like it very much. So sometimes, I want to eat Japanese foods while Bethel's lunch. However, I think that it is very nice that my host parents cooked dinner.

I am interested in the difference between Japan and America. I went to many sights and went shopping a lot. Thanks to my host family, I had a good time in MN. Although I cannot speak English very well, my host family talked me a lot. I think that my host family is the greatest :) I hope The Haiders will be happy, Emily will run faster, and Luke will eat vegetable.
